🎉 Celebrating 6 Years of the EMVS! 🎉
On 9 February 2025, the European Medicines Verification System (#EMVS) marks 6 years of safeguarding the supply chain and protecting patient safety! 🛡️ This milestone reflects our collective commitment to strengthening and expanding the system, ensuring its continued success. 🌍
Over the past 6 years, the #EMVS has undergone significant upgrades, navigated challenges, and continuously improved—thanks to the dedication and collaboration of all parties involved. 🤝 The system’s impact speaks for itself, as demonstrated by the latest statistics. 📊
While 2024 brought the unfortunate disconnection of Northern Ireland, 2025 opens a new chapter with the addition of Italy (NMVO Italia) and Greece, further expanding our Community. We are excited to welcome them and look forward to the journey ahead! 🚀
✨ To mark the #EMVS Anniversary, EMVO’s President Ilaria Passarani (Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union (PGEU)) and our General Manager Kai Mjaanes share some words:
Ilaria Passarani: “Ensuring patient safety requires dedication and collaboration. Over the past six years, pharmacists, wholesalers, manufacturers, and all other supply chain actors have demonstrated a strong commitment to protecting the integrity of medicines in Europe. Their daily efforts make a real difference, ensuring that every patient can trust the medicines they receive. This achievement is not just about technology, it’s about the people behind it, working to uphold the highest standards of safety and care.”
Kai Mjaanes: “It is easy to forget what a huge success the EMVS actually is. In 3 years, we set up a European-wide system connecting nearly 130,000 users across 29 countries, creating a safe space from falsified medicines within the legal supply chain. That is truly an achievement and great news for patients throughout Europe.” A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to this success—here’s to the future of the EMVS! 🚀
